Perhaps most famous for their Yorkshire Tea, Taylors of Harrogate has been brewing since 1886. And we think some of their success has got to be down to good old Yorkshire pride. See, this Yorkshire family business takes pride in everything it does by doing ‘things properly, without shortcuts’; an ethos we try to live by too.
As well as keeping a watchful eye on quality levels, from the way the tea is grown to how it’s blended, tasted and packed, Taylors strongly believes in ethical trading as well as being kind to the planet. This means they pay sustainable prices and work hard to build long-lasting relationships with the tea growers. It also means they work closely with the Rainforest Alliance and have been planting and protecting tress since 1990.
In addition to Yorkshire Tea, which we stock in bags and as loose tea, we also have the decaff version and the superb Yorkshire Gold. Whichever blend you choose, Yorkshire Tea is perfect for a pick-me-up any time of day. For best results, use one teabag per person, add freshly boiled water and let the tea brew for around 3-5 minutes before giving the bag a gentle squeeze and adding milk of your choice.
We also stock Taylors fruit and green teas, including a range made in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew. Combining Taylors’ expertise in flavour and the Garden’s expertise in plants ensures the tea is of the absolute highest quality. All the fruits and herbs used in these teas are analysed by Kew’s experts, certifying the authenticity, quality and purity of the ingredients.
Our recommendations this summer
A cup of hot tea is often recommended as means of cooling down in summer and we’ll be enjoying some of Taylors fruitier teas as well as their trusty Yorkshire blend this year. Rose Lemonade Tea s packed with lemon peel, lemongrass and organic rose petals to create a fresh, zingy and floral flavour and aroma. Lemon and Ginger Tea is another zingy blend, but with a lovely warmth from the ginger. It’s deliciously invigorating and recommended to anyone suffering from an upset tummy. Fans of green tea should try Green Tea with Strawberry & Vanilla. Steam-dried Sencha green tea is blended with the summery flavours of strawberry and vanilla to make an ever so gently sweet drink which allows the green tea to shine.
